Returning to Brixton on 28 June, the free community event will bring together elders, families and visitors from across Britain for a day of food, entertainment and reflection
Black Current News is delighted to announce its partnership with the Big Caribbean Lunch 2026, one of Brixton's best-known community events.
Returning to Windrush Square on Sunday 28 June, the event is expected to bring together thousands of people for a day of food, entertainment and conversation.
Now in its fourth year, the Big Caribbean Lunch has become a much-loved fixture in Brixton’s calendar, placing Caribbean elders at the heart of the celebrations while creating space for people of all ages to come together.
Founder Ros Griffiths said: “The Big Caribbean Lunch is more than an event - it is a celebration of Caribbean culture, community and the enduring legacy of the Windrush Generation in the heart of Brixton.”
Black Current News founder and editor Nadine White said: “The Big Caribbean Lunch captures the very best of our community.
“It’s not often that you see grandparents, parents and children coming together in the same space to share food, stories and heritage.
“As a news platform with roots in Brixton, which has long been an epicentre of Black British life, Black Current News is proud to support an event that celebrates the contribution of Caribbean people to this country while bringing generations together.”
Supported by Lambeth Council, the Big Caribbean Lunch takes place from 12 pm to 7 pm on Sunday 28 June in Windrush Square, Brixton.
Admission is free - so make it a date and don’t be late!
